Solar House - Halfway House

Providing a safe environment for recovery, and a cushion between drug addiction treatment and the outside world.
Solar House is the Halfway House affiliated to OASIS Counselling Centre, a rehab in Plettenberg Bay. Our aim is to provide, in a safe and caring environment, a cushion between the protection and security of a rehab centre, and the harsh reality of the outside world. This is the time when the majority of relapses occur.

THE PROGRAMME
The Programme is based on the Minnesota Model daily 12 Step recovery programme. The twice weekly interpersonal group is used to deal with the array of emotions that usually accompany early recovery. Awareness is also facilitated through weekly one to one counselling. There is a community support group each morning where detailed daily plans are discussed. All residents will be expected to attend a minimum of three 12 Step meetings per week and continue with their step work.
Residents will be helped to follow the 12 step philosophy and life style. This includes taking financial responsibility. SOLAR residents will be encouraged and assisted to find employment.

ADMISSION CRITERIA
To have successfully completed a Primary and Secondary Care Programme.
To be considered by the OASIS therapeutic team to be in a stable condition.
Agree to abide by the House Expectations of Solar House.
