Alcohol Rehab - Alcohol Addiction Counselling and Treatment

At Oasis Counselling Centre, we provide alcohol rehab facilities for professional and experienced alcohol addiction counselling. Treating alcohol addiction is extremely serious and a detoxification programme is required as the detox process and experiencing DTs (delusion tremors) can be fatal.

Once detoxed, our alcohol rehab setting will help the client begin their life as a sober alcoholic using a 12 Step Recovery Programme as used by members of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). It is accepted for counsellors in South Africa to provide therapy coupled with a 12 Step approach. At Oasis Counselling Centre we provide therapy and a Twelve Step Programme but also take our treatment to a deeper level: we encourage a healthy and active lifestyle filled with fun and enriching activities. At Oasis, we see this approach as vital for the client to maintain sobriety.

For an alcoholic to remain sober in the world outside treatment it is necessary to look not only at a client's past, but also present factors threatening their sobriety. Once these factors are highlighted, alcohol addiction counselling at an alcohol rehab will help the client find alternative means of processing these factors in a manner that is healthy and not self-destructive.

Other addictive behaviours such as an eating disorder, co-dependency or self-harm can surface when alcohol is no longer used and also require specialised therapy facilities. Clients at our alcohol rehab participate in group therapy and individual, one-to-one counselling sessions with a focal counsellor, as well as participating in therapeutic activities.

It is recommended that any client seeking alcohol addiction counselling remains at Oasis for a minimum of three months and possibly seeks further treatment at our tertiary care facility, Solar House. Treating alcohol addiction does not happen in a short space of time and an alcoholic is never cured. Clients at our successful alcohol rehab are taught how to maintain a healthy lifestyle of recovery.
