Our Philosophy
Our Philosophy - Oasis Addiction Recovery Counsellors and Programmes
Research shows that addicts who follow 12 Step recovery programmesand join self-help groups can achieve success at recovery. 12 Step self-help groups include Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and others.
However, addicts achieve a much higher success rate at staying clean and sober when these addiction recovery programmes are combined with therapy by trained qualified addiction counsellors.
It has been shown that while primary care treatment with addiction recovery counsellors achieves a lower rate of relapse, long term care, combined with addiction recovery programmes has a dramatically increased rate of recovery.
Our philosophy
The foundation of our philosophy is that addiction is a treatable condition.
Our aim at Oasis is to help struggling addicts find recovery with the use help of addiction recovery therapists and programmes. We provide an environment of respect, love and understanding with the promotion of individual growth, improved social functioning, improved marital and family adjustments and improved psychological well-being.
Our focus is on exploring the many secondary issues and the break-down in social functioning related to addiction through our clients receiving addict group counselling and being active in an after care group.
Individuals will be encouraged to take more responsibility; to integrate back into society and to assist with the day to day running of the house. The aim is to regain a joy in living; to find a way of doing this without recourse to mind altering chemicals or other types of addictive behavior.
Our vision is to provide ethical, professional treatment with addiction recovery counsellors to help those suffering from addiction and other forms of breakdown in social behaviour whilst introducing them to an after care help group and the way of life encouraged therein. We also strive to continue to develop and educate in the area of treatment for addiction and psychological breakdown and to be involved in the advocacy of policies for the treatment of addiction. Lastly, we provide information and assistance to professionals whose work brings them into direct contact with the effects of addiction.
