South Africa is facing massive problems due to many people looking to make money by setting up rehabilitation centres which are not properly registered. These centres are set up without any proper training, experience in addictions treatment or the necessary licences for running such a centre.

Facilities are functioning all over the country which use forced religious education, believing that addiction can be cured. The clients receive religious instruction for an hour in the morning, followed by intense physical activity for the remainder of the day.
