Solar House

Solar House is a halfway house affiliated to Oasis Counselling Centre in Plettenberg Bay.

Our aim is to provide a cushion between the protection and security of a treatment centre, and the harsh reality of the outside world in a safe and caring environment. This is the time period durin which the majority of relapses occur.

THE PROGRAMME

The programme at Solar House is based on the Minnesota Model of 12 Step recovery. The bi-weekly support group is used to deal with the array of emotions that usually accompany early recovery. Awareness is also facilitated through weekly one-to-one counselling and aftercare groups. There is a community support group each morning where detailed daily plans will be discussed. All residents will be expected to attend a minimum of three 12 Step meetings per week and continue with their step work.

Residents will be helped to follow the 12 Step philosophy and lifestyle. As with any treatment centre and half-way house, this includes taking financial responsibility. Solar House residents will be encouraged and assisted to find employment.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

To have successfully completed a Primary and Secondary Care Programme.
To be considered by the Oasis therapeutic team to be in a stable condition.
Agree to abide by the House Expectations of Solar House Rehab Centre.
