Solar House is a residential halfway house affiliated to Oasis Treatment Centre in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. The tranquil and beautiful surroundings help residents in early recovery from addiction to gently practise what they have learned in their Primary and Secondary treatments.

 Our aim is to provide a cushion between the protection and security of a treatment centre, and the  reality of living sober and clean in the outside world in a safe and caring environment. This is the time period during which the majority of relapses occur.

The Programme

The programme at Solar House is based on the Minnesota Model of 12 Step recovery. The bi-weekly support group is used to deal with the array of emotions that usually accompany early recovery. Awareness is also facilitated through weekly one-to-one counselling and after care groups.

 

There is a community support group each morning where detailed daily plans will be discussed. All residents will be expected to attend a minimum of three 12 Step meetings per week and continue with their step work.

 

Residents will be helped to follow the 12 Step philosophy and lifestyle. As with any treatment centre and half-way house, this includes taking financial responsibility. Solar House residents will be encouraged and assisted to find employment.

Admission Criteria

Clients must:  

Have successfully completed a Primary and Secondary Care Programme.

Be considered by the Oasis therapeutic team to be in a stable condition.

Agree to abide by the House Expectations of Solar House Rehab Centre.
