Sex addiction Treatment Centre - Sex Addiction Treatment Programmes

Oasis Counselling Centre for addiction provides professional sex addiction treatment programmes for those struggling with this addiction. When treating a sex addiction, we believe that a sex addict suffers from the same addiction as those who are drug addicts or alcoholics. Often, sex addiction goes hand in hand with other addictions and all are able to be treated at Oasis. We are a registered rehabilitation centre in South Africa, and provide therapy and a 12 Step recovery programme as used by Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Sex Addicts Anonymous (SAA).

A sex addict is a person who seeks sex in an obsessive and compulsive, often engaging in high risk sexual activity (such as the use of prostitutes and sex without protection from STDs). Unfortunately, sex addiction and sex addicts are often viewed as "disgusting" and "immoral". At Oasis Counselling Centre, we do not see sex addict clients as "bad". We understand that sex addiction stems from deep seated psychological issues, usually involving an incredible need for love and acceptance, mistakenly sought for in sex.

Many sex addicts mistake sex for love and find a few moments of acceptance and "safety" in their sexual pursuits. Sex addiction stems from the same disease as drug and other addictions; it is simply a different manifestation of the illness, but at Oasis we do understand the specific therapeutic needs which sex addicts require for treatment.

We help addicts identify their "bottom line behaviour" (the typical variety of ways in which addictive sexual behaviour is sought and carried out) and provide one-to-one individual counselling with a key qualified addictions counsellor and group therapy whilst helping clients to undertake a daily 12 Step programme of recovery.

The suggested time required in a sex addiction rehabilitation centre is a minimum of three months with possible further treatment at our halfway house, Solar House rehab centre.

Specific sex addiction treatment programmes are very necessary for correct treatment of sex addiction. The sex addiction treatment programmes at Oasis are run by staff who understand the need for time, care and love which a sex addict requires to achieve abstinence from sexually addictive behaviour.
